Join Robarts’ Deputy Scientific Director Dr. Ravi Menon as he shares exciting new research results from functional brain imaging and how it is impacting diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s. Dr. Menon will host the Robarts Edition of Western’s Classes Without Quizzes, a free community lecture series, on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Robarts Research Institute, 1st Floor Atrium.

South Asian Health Symposium

The South Asian Medical Students' Association is hosting the second annual South Asian Health Symposium on March 8.

SAMSA is a group of medical students at The University of Western Ontario with the aim of promoting awareness of health and cultural issues particular to the South Asian community.

The free symposium offers attendees the opportunity to hear from physicians about ways to maintain healthy lifestyles and learn about medical issues prevalent among South Asians.

Dr. Subodh Verma, a cardiac surgeon and researcher at Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital, will be discussing heart health among South Asians. Dr. Faisal Rehman, a nephrologist at the London Health Sciences Centre, will speak about obesity and diabetes and a registered dietitian will discuss healthy eating habits and demonstrate food preparation of nutritious South Asian meals. The evening will also feature a musical performance by renowned singer, Dr. Mandar Jog, and a South Asian dinner.
